Negeri Sembilan is gearing up to position itself as Malaysia’s premier hub for sports tourism as the highly anticipated Negeri Sembilan Matrix Fencing Festival 2026 prepares to take over the state. Scheduled from June 27 to 30, the four-day festival will bring together a vibrant regional community of athletes, coaches, officials, and families at the state-of-the-art Karisma Arena in Seremban.

Organised by the Negeri Sembilan Fencing Association (NSFA), the massive event packages three major tournaments under a single banner: the Negeri Sembilan Youth Challenge (NSYC 2026), the Negeri Sembilan Open Championship (NSOC 2026), and the Negeri Sembilan Masters Challenge (NSMC 2026).

The festival is strategically designed to align with the broader Visit Malaysia 2026 and Visit Negeri Sembilan 2026 tourism campaigns. Beyond providing a world-class competitive stage, the event invites traveling delegations and their families to experience the state’s renowned hospitality, rich cultural history, and famous local cuisine.

Tengku Dato’ Mu’adzam Sadruddin bin Tengku Noone Aziz, President of the NSFA, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event:

For local athletes, the festival offers an invaluable opportunity to gain international exposure right on home soil. The centerpiece of the festival, the NS Youth Challenge, will see young fencers competing across Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, and Under-17 categories in all three traditional weapons—foil, épée, and sabre. Team events will also be contested in the Under-12 and Under-17 divisions.

Adding to the competitive stakes, clubs will battle for prestigious team weapon accolades (“Best in Epee”, “Best in Foil”, “Best in Sabre”) alongside the coveted Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Shield, awarded to the club with the best overall performance.

School-going Malaysian competitors also stand to benefit academically, as participation in the festival grants crucial PAJSK (Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani, Sukan dan Kokurikulum) co-curricular points under the Ministry of Education’s assessment system.

Rounding out the inclusive, multi-tier celebration of the sport, the Open Championship will welcome competitors aged 13 and above, while the Masters Challenge will spotlight veteran fencers (women aged 35+ and men aged 40+).

With official registration closing on June 1, the NS Matrix Fencing Festival 2026 is fully primed to embody the spirit of modern Malaysian fencing—inclusive, dynamic, and connected to the wider region.
