At the 14th edition of the prestigious MCKK Premier 7s, Sekolah Sukan Malaysia Pahang (SSMP) firmly cemented their status as the new powerhouse of the sport, successfully defending their crown for the second consecutive year.

In a highly anticipated, blockbuster repeat of last year’s final, SSMP went toe-to-toe with arch-rivals Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI/TMISS), securing a thrilling 19-14 victory at the historic Malay College Kuala Kangsar rugby fields.

The hard-fought triumph saw SSMP proudly retain the iconic NJ Ryan Trophy, further reinforcing SSMP’s place among the country’s elite school rugby programmes.

A Clash of Titans

Whenever SSMP and SSTMI cross paths on a rugby pitch, the atmosphere is electric, and this Cup final was no exception.

From the opening whistle, both sides exchanged momentum throughout the contest, combining physicality, pace and tactical discipline in another fitting chapter of one of Malaysian school rugby’s biggest rivalries.

Ultimately, it was SSMP’s tactical execution in clutch moments that tipped the scales. To sweeten the championship victory, SSMP’s standout playmaker, Muhammad Ammar Zidan, was honored with the coveted Zaharuddin Alias Best Player Award for his brilliant, game-defining performance throughout the weekend.

• The Plate Division: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Hussein Onn (THOR) emerged victorious in a high-scoring, breathless encounter, edging out Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah (SAS) 24-19.
• The Bowl Division: SMK Hosba showcased phenomenal grit, overcoming a stubborn SMK Syed Sirajuddin side 17-12 to lift the title.
• The Shield Division: MRSM Balik Pulau put on an absolute defensive clinic, completely shutting out the Royal Military College (RMC) with a dominant 22-0 shutout.

The tournament concluded with regal flair as the prizes and trophies were presented to the champions by the Raja Kecil Besar of Perak, YTM Raja Dato’ Seri Azlan Muzzaffar Shah ibni Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
