It was a monumental day for the nation’s cycling scene as track legend Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang and the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF/PKBM) both received prestigious accolades from The BrandLaureate. Azizulhasni was inducted into the ‘Book of World Records’, while the federation was granted a special award for its role in elevating the sport globally.
The recognition for the athlete famously known as “The Pocket Rocketman” comes just days after his stellar performance at the 2026 UCI Track Nations Cup in Nilai. During the competition, Azizulhasni captured the gold medal in the keirin and a podium finish in the individual sprint.
By receiving the ‘Book of World Records’ award, Azizulhasni joins an elite group of global icons, including football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Malaysian squash queen Datuk Nicol David. This adds to his growing list of honors, having previously been named a ‘Sport Icon’ by The BrandLaureate in 2024.
The MNCF (PKBM) was also celebrated for its proactive efforts in promoting cycling and successfully organizing high-level international events. President Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill noted that the timing of this award is crucial as the federation prepares to bid for the hosting rights of the World Championships. The recent Track Nations Cup was highly praised by the UCI as one of the best-organized events to date.

“I never thought I’d enjoy training this much until joining Sportif. The coaches are supportive and really know how to bring out the best in you.”
