Malaysian junior tennis star Daania Daniella Hazli continues to make waves on the international circuit, delivering a standout performance at the ITF J60 Chengdu tournament in China.

The young athlete concluded her campaign with an impressive haul, capturing the doubles championship and securing a hard-fought runner-up spot in the singles category.

In the Girls’ Doubles final, Daania, paired with China’s Bojia Zhang, lived up to their billing as the tournament’s top seeds. The duo displayed seamless chemistry and tactical dominance to dispatch the Chinese pairing of Yilin Dou and Kuai Jiananxi with a convincing 6-4, 6-3 victory to claim the title.

Daania’s run in the Girls’ Singles was equally commendable. Entering the draw as the fourth seed, she battled her way to the final to face the top-seeded local favorite, Anna Yang.

In a fiercely contested match that pushed both players to their limits, Daania narrowly missed out on a second title, falling 6-7(3), 6-7(2) in two tense tie-break sets. Despite the loss, her ability to go toe-to-toe with a player ranked near the world top 250 earned significant praise.

The J60 category represents a competitive tier within the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, where winners earn 60 international ranking points. Daania’s deep run in both categories at this level highlights her rapid development and readiness for higher-stakes competition.

There is little time for rest for the young tennis star, as she is set to depart for Kazakhstan immediately. Daania will join Team Malaysia for the U16 Billie Jean King Cup (BJKC) campaign, where the squad aims to secure a coveted spot in the final round this November.
