Inter Milan Crowned Champions: Nerazzurri Secure 21st Scudetto with Dominant Win Over Parma

Inter Milan has officially reclaimed its throne as the kings of Italy. Cristian Chivu’s men clinched the club’s 21st Serie A title on Sunday following a clinical 2-0 victory over Parma at the San Siro, moving an unassailable 12 points clear of second-placed Napoli with only three matches remaining.

Needing only a victory to finalize the title race after Napoli’s goalless draw against Como on Saturday, the Nerazzurri left nothing to chance.

  • The Breakthrough: After early pressure saw Nicolò Barella hit the crossbar, Marcus Thuram broke the deadlock in first-half added time with a powerful right-footed finish.
  • Sealing the Deal: In the 80th minute, captain Lautaro Martinez—returning from injury—provided a brilliant cross for veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who slotted home to ignite the celebrations at the Duomo Square.

In his debut season as head coach, Cristian Chivu—a hero of Inter’s 2010 Treble-winning side—has transformed the squad since taking charge in June 2025. Despite losing two of their opening three matches, Chivu implemented a high-pressing, proactive system that saw Inter lose only three of their next 32 fixtures.

  • Record-Breaking Attack: Inter has scored 82 goals this season, 30 more than their closest rivals, Napoli.
  • Strike Partnership: The duo of Martinez (16 goals) and Thuram (13 goals) spearheaded the offense despite both facing injury spells.
  • Steel Defence: Anchored by Alessandro Bastoni and Manuel Akanji, the defense conceded a league-low 31 goals.

While rivals AC Milan and Napoli struggled with injuries and tactical “identity crises,” Inter remained relentless. Their resilience was best highlighted in April, when the team stormed back from two goals down to defeat top-four contenders Como 4-3.

“I try to draw on the experience I had in many locker rooms and try not to repeat the errors I dealt with as a player,” said Chivu during the post-match celebrations.

With the Scudetto secured with three games to spare, Inter’s season is far from over. The club has also reached the Coppa Italia final, where they are set to face Lazio later this month, eyeing a domestic double.
