Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) secured their sixth Malaysia Cup title and completed an unprecedented fourth consecutive domestic quadruple after defeating a resilient Kuching City 2-0 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
The victory continues the Southern Tigers’ absolute dominance of Malaysian football, sweeping all four major domestic trophies—the Charity Shield, FA Cup, Super League, and Malaysia Cup—for the fourth straight season since 2022.
Kuching City put up a highly disciplined defensive performance in the first half and successfully absorbed intense pressure from JDT, even threatening on the counter through former JDT winger Ramadhan Saifullah.
The underdogs were presented with a golden opportunity to take a historic lead in the 61st minute when La’Vere Corbin-Ong fouled Ramadhan inside the penalty area. However, Ramadhan sent his penalty kick wide of the post, leaving the match scoreless and shifting the psychological momentum back to the reigning champions.
The turning point for JDT arrived in the 65th minute with the introduction of superstar winger Arif Aiman Hanapi, making a highly anticipated return to action after 186 days sidelined by injury.
His presence instantly revitalized the attack, and the breakthrough finally materialized in the 81st minute when Oscar Arribas slipped a precise pass to Brazilian winger Marcos Guilherme, who deftly lofted the ball over Kuching goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli.
As Kuching City pushed forward in search of a late equalizer during stoppage time, JDT capitalized on the open space.
In the 91st minute, Arif Aiman cut inside the box and unleashed a powerful strike that hit the inside of the post and crossed the line, sealing the 2-0 win and marking a fairy-tale return for the national winger.
JDT head coach Xisco Muñoz celebrated another historic milestone for the club, while Aidil Sharin Sahak’s Kuching City earned immense respect for pushing the champions to their absolute limits.

“I never thought I’d enjoy training this much until joining Sportif. The coaches are supportive and really know how to bring out the best in you.”
