Liverpool Football Club has announced the creation of a permanent tribute at Anfield to honor the lives of forward Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, following their tragic passing in a car accident last year.

The memorial, titled “Forever 20,” will be situated on 97 Avenue, a location that became a spontaneous sanctuary for thousands of grieving supporters after the brothers lost their lives in July 2025.

The sculpture features a flowing heart design, a direct reference to Jota’s signature goal celebration, and is engineered to display both Jota’s retired number 20 and Silva’s number 30 when viewed from different angles.

Mounted on a Granby Rock-faced stone plinth, the monument will physically incorporate recycled tributes—including scarves, cards, and banners—left at the stadium by fans during the initial period of mourning.

In an official statement released on the club’s website, Liverpool articulated that the monument “celebrates their lives, their bond, and the love and respect felt by family, team-mates and supporters across the world.”

The club further noted that the site is intended to “serve as a permanent symbol of love, unity and remembrance, and a place where everyone can reflect, remember and pay their respects.”

Diogo Jota was 28 years old and a vital figure in Liverpool’s recent success, having scored 65 goals in 182 appearances. His death came shortly after he helped lead the Reds to the Premier League title at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

His brother, Andre Silva, was 25 and played for the Portuguese second-tier club Penafiel. The pair died on July 3, 2025, when their vehicle veered off the road near Zamora, Spain.

The memorial also features laser-engraved lyrics from the popular fan chant, “he will take us to victory, oh, his name is Diogo,” ensuring the striker’s impact on the Kop remains immortalized.

While the images of the design have been released to the public, the club has stated that a date for the official unveiling ceremony will be announced at a later time.
