Selangor FC are just one step away from regional glory after securing their spot in the ASEAN Club Championship (ACC) Shopee Cup final.

Under the guidance of head coach Kim Pan-gon, the Red Giants delivered a clinical performance to defeat Vietnam’s Nam Dinh FC 2-0 tonight, progressing with a commanding 4-1 aggregate victory.

Following a competitive first leg, Selangor entered the Thien Truong Stadium with a slim advantage but showed no signs of complacency.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when a VAR review penalized Mitchell Dijks for a foul on Mohammad Abualnadi during a corner kick. Brazilian striker Chrigor Moraes stepped up and rifled a powerful penalty past goalkeeper Nguyen Manh Tran to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Nam Dinh thought they had found a lifeline early in the second half when Lam Ti Phong found the back of the net in the 51st minute. However, the home crowd’s celebrations were cut short by VAR, which ruled that Percy Tau was offside in the buildup, keeping Selangor’s two-goal aggregate cushion intact.

In the 90th minute, he displayed immense composure in a one-on-one situation to slot home his second goal of the night, sealing the 2-0 win and a ticket to the grand final.

Selangor FC now awaits the winner of the other semi-final between defending champions Buriram United and fellow Malaysian giants Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT). Buriram currently holds a 3-1 aggregate lead heading into their second-leg clash.

The final will be played over two legs, with the first encounter scheduled for May 20 at Selangor’s home ground, followed by the decisive return leg on May 27. With the Red Giants in peak form, fans are dreaming of a historic trophy to kickstart their 2026 campaign.
