Malaysia’s campaign in the 2026 Uber Cup Finals came to a close following a 3-0 loss to defending champions China in the quarter-finals at Forum Horsens today. Despite the defeat, the national team achieved its primary goal of reaching the last eight for only the fourth time in history.

Malaysia opted for a tactical reshuffle by resting captain M. Thinaah, placing K. Letshanaa in the first singles slot. Letshanaa fought hard but eventually went down 17-21, 18-21 to world No. 2 Wang Zhiyi in 47 minutes.

The challenge continued in the first doubles match, where debutants Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting faced the world No. 1 pair, Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning. While the young Malaysian duo managed to push the match into a deciding game, they ultimately fell 14-21, 21-16, 13-21 after a grueling 79-minute battle. China then secured their semi-final berth in the third match as world No. 4 Chen Yufei proved too strong for Wong Ling Ching, winning 21-10, 21-10.

Although the journey ended today, the Malaysian squad takes pride in matching the country’s best-ever achievement in the Uber Cup. This quarter-final appearance equals the feats recorded in 2004, 2008, and 2010. Malaysia reached the knockout stage this year after finishing as runners-up in Group B, following victories over Turkey and South Africa.
