Malaysian football fans received exciting news today as Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and Unifi TV have been officially confirmed as the broadcasters for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced that this strategic partnership aims to provide inclusive and comprehensive coverage to all Malaysians across various digital and mobile platforms.
The broadcasting rights involve a procurement cost of RM24 million, supported by sponsorships from relevant parties to ensure widespread access.
Under this arrangement, Unifi TV will provide live coverage for all 104 matches of the tournament. Meanwhile, RTM will offer free access to a significant number of matches, which will be aired either live or delayed via its television channels, the RTMKlik application, and MyTV.
To further enhance the viewer experience, RTM will produce a special ‘Grandstand’ program in both Malay and English.
Additionally, public viewing events will be organized at selected locations to build excitement and engagement among local fans. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that world-class sporting events are accessible to all levels of society throughout the country.
