Football superstar and global icon David Beckham is set to be immortalized on Hollywood’s most famous thoroughfare, with organizers announcing that the former England captain will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The exclusive ceremony, hosted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for June 12 at 11:30 AM PT. Movie legend Tom Cruise and Beckham’s pop star-turned-fashion designer wife, Victoria Beckham, will be in attendance to unveil the plaque.
A Fitting World Cup Tribute
The timing of the ceremony carries immense cultural weight. The 51-year-old’s plaque will be unveiled just hours before the first match takes place on U.S. soil for this year’s FIFA World Cup, which is being jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
“David Beckham’s recognition with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in the Sports Entertainment category comes at a fitting moment as the United States prepares to host the FIFA World Cup,” said Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
“Beckham’s role in elevating soccer’s profile in America and his lasting influence on sports, entertainment, and global culture make this honour especially meaningful.”
The selection is also no doubt influenced by the fact that Los Angeles itself is serving as a major host city for the upcoming World Cup tournament.
Joining the Elite “Sports Entertainment” Category
Beckham will be inducted under the “Sports Entertainment” category. While the Walk of Fame is traditional ground for actors and musicians, this specific category has previously been reserved for transcendent sports figures who successfully crossed over into global entertainment, such as boxing legend Muhammad Ali and NBA icon Magic Johnson.
The honour recognizes Beckham’s massive footprint beyond the pitch. After a glittering playing career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy, and Paris Saint-Germain, Beckham retired in 2013.
Since hanging up his boots, he has built an entertainment empire, co-founding the content production company Studio 99 in 2019, and was knighted by Britain’s King Charles III last year.
His influence on American soccer reached new heights recently as a co-owner of Inter Miami CF. Beckham successfully brought Argentine maestro Lionel Messi to the United States, leading the club to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup Championship last year.

“I never thought I’d enjoy training this much until joining Sportif. The coaches are supportive and really know how to bring out the best in you.”
