The Malaysian Junior Mixed Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) team captured a historic gold medal at the 2026 IFAGG Asian Championships, securing a major breakthrough for the nation on the continental stage.
The tournament, held in Astana, marks the third edition of the prestigious continental championship, following the inaugural event in Shah Alam, Malaysia (2022) and the second edition in Hong Kong (2024).
Finals Resurgence
The Malaysian squad staged a dramatic comeback in the final round to leapfrog the tournament hosts. Despite qualifying for the finals in second place behind Kazakhstan’s Kerbez Mixed, the seven-gymnast Malaysian lineup delivered a flawless final routine to score 18.350 points.
The high-scoring final performance allowed Malaysia to overturn the qualification deficit, securing the gold medal by a razor-thin overall margin of 0.250 points ahead of the host nation.

Squad Roster & Continental Standings
The championship-winning roster consists of Qaseh Damia Irwan, Tee De Hui, Arwen Aidana, Tan Hui Xin, Asyraaf Mukhtar, Wong Zhi Qin, and Jolynn Yii, under the guidance of head coaches Yeo Kai Lin and Riikka.
Beyond the gold medal finish, the Malaysian contingent also registered strong performances across other divisions. Both the national Junior and Senior teams concluded their respective campaigns by placing fourth in Asia, narrowly missing out on podium finishes against the region’s elite programs.
