Malaysian Boxing Federation Set to Sue Former Thai Assistant Coach Over Defamation Claims

The Malaysian Boxing Federation (PTM) is prepared to take civil action against former national assistant coach from Thailand, Keattisak Teankam, following a viral Facebook video alleging he was forced to transfer money to PTM monthly in an abuse of power.

PTM President, Datuk Mohamad Iruan Zulkefli, strongly denied the accusations, labeling them as outright lies and defamation that tarnish the image of the governing body.

He explained that the dispute actually stemmed from unpaid house rental and advance money provided to the coach at the start of his service with the national squad, leaving Keattisak with an outstanding debt of RM9,100 owed to PTM.

Iruan also refuted claims of unpaid wages, confirming that the National Sports Council (MSN) had already settled full payments for May and June amounting to RM17,600, even though the coach’s contract only expires next month. Clarifying the financial situation, Iruan stated,

“There is no issue of unpaid salaries. In fact, it is not us who owe him, but rather he still owes PTM.”

PTM has already lodged a police report at the Nilai District Police Headquarters and is looking into immediate legal avenues. Regarding their next diplomatic and legal steps, Iruan added,

“We will send a letter to the Thailand Boxing Association first. If the video is still not taken down, civil action might be the next option.”
