Terengganu Marvels have officially ascended to the throne of Malaysian netball, capturing their first-ever CelcomDigi Netball Super League (NSL) title after a commanding 70-63 victory over Johor Jewels at Stadium Juara.
The victory marks a historic milestone for the franchise, as they completed the 2026 campaign with a perfect unbeaten record. Under the tactical guidance of head coach Siti Norfarhana Mustafa, the Marvels displayed a masterclass in consistency and resilience throughout the season, culminating in this maiden championship.
The final was a showcase of defensive brilliance and clinical finishing. Adalia Jasmine Mustazal anchored the Marvels’ defense, disrupting the Jewels’ attacking flow and earning her the Best Defender award for the season. Her efforts allowed the Marvels to establish a significant lead as early as the second quarter.
Up front, the Marvels were led by Maisarah Affandi, who was clinical throughout the tournament. Her scoring prowess earned her the prestigious Best Shooter award, proving pivotal in maintaining the Marvels’ lead despite a late surge from Johor Jewels.
Although Johor Jewels fell just short in the final, their squad was highly recognized during the post-match awards. Fariha Razak was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for her leadership and playmaking, while New Zealand legend Laura Langman took home the Best Import award for her exceptional contribution to the Jewels’ campaign.
The battle for third place saw the KL Wildcats secure a podium finish and a spot in the upcoming NSL Regional Cup after defeating Kedah Sunshine, which finished the season in a respectable fourth place. The Wildcats’ success was bolstered by Siti Aminah, who was officially named the Best Attacker of the 2026 season for her creative and relentless offensive play.
By dethroning the defending champions and maintaining a “zero-loss” streak, Terengganu Marvels have firmly established themselves as the new powerhouse in Malaysian netball. The atmosphere at Stadium Juara was electric as the “Lions” celebrated a season where they swept both the team trophy and several major individual accolades.
With the NSL Regional Cup on the horizon for the top finishers, the 2026 season concludes with the Marvels at the pinnacle of the sport, setting a new benchmark for excellence in the league.
